Test and Integration software Engineer

GenomSys designs and produces tools providing advanced features of data access and handling to genomic applications; that includes technology for a substantial reduction of both storage size / cost, and transfer time from sequencing facilities to archival and/or analysis sites. We are looking for a proficient Test and System Integration Software Engineer to join our team in the Lausanne region.

You will be part of an experienced team working on state-of-the-art solutions. You will have the opportunity to preview and study the new ISO/IEC 23092 (MPEG-G) standard and you will have a responsibility in the ISO process of standardization and normative conformity test of the standard. You will help the team improve the quality of the ISO/IEC 23092 compliant software by designing and implementing a scalable and reliable QA strategy. You will take in charge the mission to foster the overall product development by keeping the products robust and by finding problems before delivery to our customers. You will collaborate with customers and domain experts to bring the product to a high-quality delivery level and participate to the development of the quality process of the company.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design the test strategy closely with the development team
  2. Design and implement automated and manual testing procedures by understanding the NGS data life-cycle from sequencing to analysis
  3. Design, implementation and optimization of conformity test procedures of the ISO/IEC 23092 standard specification
  4. Design and deployment of software testing plans for unit and regression testing
  5. Integration of the developed software libraries in existing genomic data analysis applications (both open source and proprietary software)

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of 1+ years with a test automation framework (Jenkins an asset)
  • Proven track record of 1+ years of experience in C programming
  • Good knowledge of the Linux platform
  • Understanding of test best practices and processes
  • Strong organizational, reporting and tracking skills
  • Background in bioinformatics/genomics is a substantial advantage
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Team spirit

C/C++ software developer

GenomSys designs and produces tools providing advanced features of data access and handling to genomic applications; that includes technology for a substantial reduction of both storage size / cost, and transfer time, from sequencing facilities to archival and/or analysis sites.

The main responsibility of this position include the study of ISO/IEC 23092 (MPEG-G) in its most recent available state and participation to the process of standardization and implementation of the standard.

This will require:

  1. Understanding of the existing data formats for Next Generation Sequencing data (FASTQ, SAM/BAM)
  2. Understanding of NGS data lifecycle from sequencing to analysis
  3. Design, implementation and optimization of parts of the ISO/IEC 23092 standard specification
  4. Integration of the developed software libraries in exsiting genomics data applications (both open source and proprietary software)
  5. Design and deployment of software testing plans for unit and regression testing

Required skills:

  • Proven experience in C programming (Linux an asset)
  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Team spirit

Desirable but not mandatory:

  • Knowledge of software testing tools (e.g. Jenkins)
  • Background in bioinformatics/genomics
